Stainless Steel Passivation in Dallas, TX

Nitric and citric passivation to ASTM A967 and AMS 2700, about 20 miles northeast of downtown Dallas. AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 registered, ITAR registered — and actually located in Dallas–Fort Worth, which is not true of everyone ranking for this search.

What we run

Passivation for Dallas Manufacturers

Passivation does not add anything to the part. It removes free iron from the surface and lets the chromium oxide layer that makes stainless stainless reform properly. Skipped or done badly, the part rusts in service and everyone blames the material.

Nitric and citric, both available

Citric is the chelate-free route and increasingly what prints call for; nitric remains specified across a great deal of legacy work. We run both and will tell you which your specification actually requires.

ASTM A967 and AMS 2700

The two documents that govern most of this work, including the treatment classes and the test methods that verify them. Call out the specification and the class on the purchase order.

Testing and verification

Where the specification requires it, testing beyond our standard in-process verification is quoted as a separate line item at the time of order — not assumed, and not added afterwards.

Free iron from upstream processing

Machining, forming and handling with carbon steel tooling all leave free iron behind. That is what passivation is for, and it is why the process belongs after fabrication rather than before.

Getting parts here

A Dallas Shop, Not a Dallas Landing Page

Our Rowlett plant is roughly 20 miles northeast of downtown Dallas, 25 to 35 minutes up I-30. Everything described here runs in that building and at our McAllen plant. There is no satellite facility and no partner shop doing the work under our name.

Worth saying plainly: the page currently ranking first for stainless passivation in Dallas belongs to a company whose phone number, address and quoting email all route to Georgia. Being able to drive to your finisher matters on the day a lot is rejected and somebody has to look at the parts.

Questions

Dallas Passivation Questions

Citric or nitric — which should I specify?

Whichever your specification requires. If you have discretion, citric is chelate-free and generally the direction prints are moving. Both are covered by ASTM A967 and both run here. See our passivation page for the detail.

Does passivation change my dimensions?

No. Passivation removes free iron and lets the passive layer reform — it does not deposit material. That is the practical difference between passivation and plating, and it is why passivation is often the answer on close-tolerance stainless.

How do you verify it worked?

Through the test methods the governing specification names. Which test applies depends on the specification and class you call out, so put both on the purchase order — and if you need the result documented, request it at the time of order.

Are you actually located in Dallas–Fort Worth?

Yes — Rowlett, about 20 miles northeast of downtown Dallas, plus a second plant in McAllen. Both are Gleco plants with Gleco people in them.

Can you passivate and then coat?

Yes. Coating runs through our Gleco Paint & Powder division inside the same company, so a part needing passivation and then a coating stays on one order and one traceability chain.
