Bright Tin

Gleco offers two types of tin plating: matte tin plating and bright acid tin plating. This soft, ductile plating is a non-toxic option for corrosion and wear resistance, offering low oxidation and a highly aesthetic appearance. It can be used on nearly any metal, including aluminum, copper, phosphor bronze, brass, Inconel, nickel silver, zinc die-casts, and steel and stainless steel. Gleco offers ASTM-B-545, MIL-T-10727, and AMS-2408 Bright Tin plating.
Bright tin has a small grain size of 0.1 um, providing a lower friction coefficient for circuit boards and connectors than matte tin. This smaller grain size provides a more uniform surface that gives a shiny appearance that is better at reflecting light.
Matte tin has a dull, white surface that is more suited for solder reflow processes, suffering fewer stress effects and better retaining its original color in high-temperature applications.
