Medical Device Passivation and Plating in Texas

Surgical instruments, device housings, and diagnostic hardware demand surfaces that are corrosion-resistant, cleanable, and consistent lot after lot. Gleco Plating provides passivation and plating for medical device manufacturers from two Texas plants — Rowlett in Dallas-Fort Worth and McAllen in the Rio Grande Valley — under an ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D certified quality system with the documentation discipline your supplier audits require.

Family-owned since 1979 and now in its third generation, Gleco pairs process depth with control: in-house chemists, on-site laboratories at both plants, and operators trained and certified through Gleco University, our internal program with documented competency assessments and recertification requirements. For medical customers, that means the person passivating your instrument components has verifiable, current training records.

Processes for Medical Device Manufacturers

Our processes are RoHS-compliant, applied with lot traceability and certification packages built under an AS9100D-grade quality system.

Medical Passivation and Plating FAQ

Citric or nitric passivation — which should we specify?

Both meet ASTM A967 and AMS 2700 when the correct type and method are called out. Citric is increasingly preferred for safety and environmental reasons and performs well on most 300 and 400 series stainless and PH grades. If your drawing allows either, our chemists will recommend the best fit for your alloy.

How do you verify passivation was effective?

Verification testing per the practice specified on your drawing (per ASTM A967 or AMS 2700) is supported by our on-site laboratories, and results are documented with your certification package.

Can you passivate parts with fine features and lumens?

Yes. Fixturing, solution exchange, rinsing, and drying for small or internal features are defined at contract review and executed by Gleco University certified operators following documented work instructions.

Are you ISO 13485 certified?

We are certified to ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D. Many medical customers qualify us on the strength of our AS9100D system, lot traceability, and documented operator certification; our quality team can support your supplier audit.
