Why Mission shops use us

Finishing for Mission Fabricators

Mission’s manufacturing leans toward fabrication, agricultural and field equipment, and oilfield service hardware. Most of that work lives outdoors, which makes corrosion the governing requirement rather than appearance. Choosing the finish on price alone is how parts come back rusted a season later.

Zinc, or zinc-nickel, chosen honestly

Zinc to ASTM B633 handles a great deal. Zinc-nickel to AMS 2417 carries considerably more salt spray and holds up where plain zinc will not. We will tell you which your service environment actually needs, including when the cheaper one is fine.

Electroless nickel for uniform coverage

Electroless nickel deposits at an even thickness in bores, blind holes and threads, where an electroplated deposit thins out. For hydraulic and field hardware that geometry advantage is often the whole reason to specify it.

Hardware finished to a written spec

AMS 2417, ASTM B633, AMS 2404, MIL-DTL-5541 and MIL-A-8625 among others, with a Certificate of Conformance citing the revision your purchase order invokes.

Racking and masking worked out first

Tell us which surfaces must stay clean, which threads must stay free and where the part can hang. Getting that agreed before the first lot saves a rework cycle.

Logistics

Fifteen Minutes East on US-83

The McAllen plant sits at 3800 W. Ursula Ave, a short run east from Mission along the US-83 corridor. That proximity is what makes a finishing step practical for lower-value, higher-volume fabricated parts: freight stops being a meaningful share of the piece cost.

Hot-dip galvanizing and powder coating are different processes with different economics. If that is what your part actually needs, we will say so — our coatings division runs powder and liquid paint in Rowlett.

Common questions

Mission Finishing Questions

Which is better outdoors, zinc or zinc-nickel?

Zinc-nickel carries substantially more salt spray hours than plain zinc and holds up better at elevated temperature, but it costs more. For sheltered or intermittent exposure, zinc with a trivalent chromate is often enough. Tell us the service environment and we will make the call with you.

How far is the plant from Mission?

About fifteen minutes east along the US-83 corridor, at 3800 W. Ursula Ave in McAllen.

Can you plate large fabricated parts?

It depends on the process and the geometry. Send the overall dimensions with the print and we will tell you whether it fits our tanks and how we would rack it.

Do you do powder coating?

Not at the plating plants. Our coatings division, Gleco Paint and Powder Coating, runs powder, industrial liquid paint, CARC and Cerakote in Rowlett, and it is the same company on one purchase order.

Will plating change my part dimensions?

Yes, every deposit adds thickness. How much depends on the process and the class called out. If your part has toleranced features, say so on the print and we will confirm the build before running it.
