Why mid-Valley shops use us

Finishing for Weslaco Manufacturers

Weslaco sits in the middle of the Valley’s manufacturing corridor, with a mix of food and agricultural processing equipment, fabrication and light assembly. A lot of that work is stainless, and stainless brings its own finishing question: whether the passive layer was actually restored, and whether anyone can prove it.

Passivation to a real specification

Nitric passivation to AMS 2700 and ASTM A967 at McAllen, with the method and class recorded against your purchase order rather than left as a general claim that parts were dipped.

Free iron removed, and verified

Passivation exists to remove free iron and restore the chromium oxide layer. We verify to the governing specification and document it, which is what a food or medical customer audit will ask to see.

Plating for the non-stainless half

Zinc and zinc-nickel for carbon steel hardware, electroless nickel for uniform coverage in bores and threads, chem film and anodize for aluminum. One supplier for the whole bill of material.

Certification that travels with the parts

AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 registered. Every order ships with a Certificate of Conformance referencing the exact specification and revision invoked on your order.

Logistics

Half an Hour West Along US-83

The McAllen plant is at 3800 W. Ursula Ave, roughly half an hour west of Weslaco on the US-83 corridor. For mid-Valley manufacturers that is close enough to treat finishing as a normal production step rather than an outbound freight decision, and close enough to walk the plant if a job needs a conversation rather than an email.

Citric passivation runs at our Rowlett plant rather than McAllen. If your specification requires citric specifically, say so on the order and we will route it to the right plant.

Common questions

Weslaco Finishing Questions

Do you passivate stainless steel?

Yes. Nitric passivation to AMS 2700 and ASTM A967 runs at McAllen. Citric passivation runs at our Rowlett plant, so a citric callout is routed there.

What is the difference between citric and nitric passivation?

Both remove free iron and restore the passive layer. Nitric is the long-established method; citric is chelate-free and generally gentler on free-machining grades. Which one applies is usually decided by your specification rather than by preference.

How far is the plant from Weslaco?

Roughly half an hour west along the US-83 corridor, at 3800 W. Ursula Ave in McAllen.

Can you finish both stainless and carbon steel parts on one order?

Yes, and that is common. Different processes, one purchase order, one certification package.

Will you tell me if passivation is the wrong answer?

Yes. Passivation does not fill scratches, will not fix embedded grit from blasting, and is not a substitute for a coating on carbon steel. If the print calls for something that will not do what you need, we will say so before running it.
