Metal Finishing in Brownsville, TX

Corrosion protection for Brownsville port, marine and heavy fabrication work, run about an hour west at our McAllen plant. Zinc-nickel, electroless nickel and anodize specified for a coastal service environment.

Why Brownsville shops use us

Coastal Service Is a Harder Requirement

Brownsville’s industrial base sits around the port: marine and offshore fabrication, heavy steel work, logistics equipment and a growing aerospace presence. Almost all of it lives in humid, salt-laden coastal air, which is the environment that exposes an under-specified finish fastest. A finish that survives inland will not necessarily survive here.

Zinc-nickel where plain zinc will not last

Zinc-nickel to AMS 2417 carries substantially more salt spray protection than zinc and holds up better at temperature. On coastal hardware that difference usually decides whether parts last a season or several years.

Electroless nickel for geometry and corrosion together

Electroless nickel to AMS 2404 deposits at a uniform thickness in bores, blind holes and threads and brings real corrosion resistance with it. Phosphorus content changes the balance, and we will talk through which range fits your service.

Anodize and chem film for aluminum in salt air

Type II and Type III anodize to MIL-A-8625 and chem film to MIL-DTL-5541, sealed and specified for the environment rather than to a default.

Documented, not assumed

AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 registered, ITAR registered and DFARS compliant, with a Certificate of Conformance referencing the specification and revision your order invokes.

Logistics

About an Hour From the Port

The McAllen plant is at 3800 W. Ursula Ave, roughly an hour west of Brownsville. That is still far closer than the certified alternatives, which start in San Antonio and Houston. For heavier fabricated work the freight difference is not marginal — it is often the reason finishing gets specified properly instead of being skipped or done locally without documentation.

Where a print calls for a certified salt spray result rather than internal process control, we source the test from an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory and supply the certificate. Tell us at quote time so the lead time accounts for it.

Common questions

Brownsville Finishing Questions

What finish holds up best in coastal air?

There is no single answer, but zinc-nickel to AMS 2417 is usually the honest recommendation over plain zinc for exposed steel hardware, and electroless nickel where geometry and corrosion both matter. Tell us the service environment and the expected life and we will make the call with you.

How far is the plant from Brownsville?

Roughly an hour west, at 3800 W. Ursula Ave in McAllen. The nearest certified alternatives outside the Valley are in San Antonio and Houston.

Can you provide certified salt spray results?

We run ASTM B117 salt spray in our own chambers for process control. When your specification requires a certified result, we source it from an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory and supply their certificate.

Do you handle large or heavy fabricated parts?

It depends on the process and the geometry. Send overall dimensions and weight with the print and we will tell you whether it fits and how we would rack it.

Which finishes run at the McAllen plant?

Zinc and zinc-nickel, cadmium, electroless nickel, sulfamate nickel, bright nickel, chem film, Type II and Type III anodize, nitric passivation, bright tin, gold, matte and bright silver, and bright dip on copper and brass.
