Why El Paso shops use us

Finishing for El Paso Manufacturers

El Paso anchors one of the largest cross-border manufacturing regions in North America, with electronics and electrical assembly, automotive and appliance components, medical devices and a substantial defense presence. Finishing capacity that holds aerospace and defense registrations is thinner on that side of the state than the volume of work would suggest, which is why El Paso buyers routinely ship east for it.

Aerospace and defense specifications, held to revision

MIL-A-8625 Type II and Type III, MIL-DTL-5541 Type I and Type II, AMS-QQ-P-416 cadmium, AMS 2417 zinc-nickel, AMS 2404 electroless nickel, AMS 2700 passivation and QQ-S-365 silver, certified to the revision your print invokes.

Electrical and electronic finishes

Bright and matte tin, gold, silver and electroless nickel for connectors, busbar, contacts and enclosures, with the thickness and underplate your print specifies rather than a house standard.

Plating and coatings under one roof

Electroplating, anodizing and passivation at Gleco Plating, plus powder coating, liquid coating and Cerakote through our coatings division. A part needing plate-then-paint does not need two suppliers.

Consolidate the freight, not the specification

Distance is real, so most El Paso customers batch releases rather than shipping lot by lot. We will help you plan the release pattern so the schedule works without cutting corners on process.

Bilingual, on both sides of the desk

Our team works in English and Spanish, which matters when your engineers, buyers and drivers do too. Send the print in whichever language your team works in.

Logistics

Planning Around the Distance

El Paso is a long way from either plant, and pretending otherwise helps nobody. What makes it work is planning: consolidated releases instead of single lots, lead times quoted against your actual production schedule, and honest routing when a process only runs at one plant. Buyers who are already shipping out of the region for AS9100D finishing are usually shipping a similar distance anyway.

If freight is the deciding factor, tell us your release pattern and required dates before you quote it. We would rather structure the schedule with you than lose the job to a distance we could have planned around.

Common questions

El Paso Finishing Questions

Is El Paso too far to make sense?

That depends on the alternative. Buyers who need AS9100D registered, ITAR registered finishing are usually shipping out of the region regardless. Consolidated releases and a planned schedule generally make the freight a manageable line item rather than a dealbreaker.

Do you hold AS9100D and ITAR registration?

Yes. Both plants operate under the same AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 registration, and Gleco is ITAR registered and DFARS compliant.

Do you work with parts that cross into Juarez?

Your broker handles the crossing and the temporary-import paperwork; we handle the finish and the certification. Parts that are export-controlled need the right authorization in place before anything moves, so tell us the classification when you send the print.

Can you plate and then coat the same part?

Yes. Electroplating, anodizing and passivation run at Gleco Plating; powder coating, liquid coating and Cerakote run at Gleco Paint and Powder in Rowlett. One purchase order, one set of certifications.

What documentation ships with the parts?

A Certificate of Conformance referencing the specification and revision your purchase order invokes, plus any certified test results your specification requires from an accredited laboratory.
