Metal Finishing for Reynosa Manufacturers

The closest certified finisher

Minutes Across the Bridge

Reynosa carries one of the densest concentrations of maquiladora manufacturing on the border: electrical and electronic assembly, automotive components, appliances, medical devices and the machine shops that support them. The McAllen plant is one of the closest AS9100D registered finishing operations to that base, which matters when a U.S. customer's print calls out a specification that has to be certified on the U.S. side.

Electrical and electronic finishes

Bright and matte tin, gold, silver and electroless nickel for connectors, contacts, busbar and enclosures, at the thickness and underplate the print specifies rather than a house standard.

U.S. specifications, certified

MIL-A-8625, MIL-DTL-5541, AMS-QQ-P-416, AMS 2417, AMS 2404, AMS 2700 and QQ-S-365 among others, certified to the revision your customer's purchase order invokes.

AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 registered

The registration is usually the entry requirement for aerospace and defense work, not an optional credential. Both Gleco plants operate under the same one.

Short physical distance, short feedback loop

Being minutes away rather than a day away means a first article can be looked at, discussed and rerun inside the same week instead of the same month.

Bilingual, on both sides of the desk

Our team works in English and Spanish — engineering, quoting and the people on the dock. Send the drawing and the purchase order in whichever language your team works in, and expect an answer in the same one.

Crossing the border

How the Parts Move

Most customers move parts under their existing IMMEX or temporary-import arrangements and use their own customs broker. We are a Texas finishing plant, not a broker: what we handle is the process, the inspection and the certification package. Tell us how your parts cross and how they come back, and we will fit our documentation to your program.

Gleco is ITAR registered and runs formal ITAR control measures, so controlled technical data and hardware are handled under those controls rather than treated as ordinary work. Moving controlled items across the border still needs the appropriate U.S. export authorization in place, so tell us the classification when you send the print and we will confirm what is required before anything moves.

Common questions

Questions from Reynosa Buyers

How far is the plant from Reynosa?

The McAllen plant is at 3800 W. Ursula Ave in McAllen, Texas, a short run north of the Reynosa-Hidalgo and Pharr international bridges. Transit time is dominated by the crossing rather than the drive.

Do you handle the customs paperwork?

No. Your broker handles the crossing and the temporary-import documentation. We handle the finishing, the inspection and the certification package that travels with the parts.

Which finishes run at the McAllen plant?

Zinc and zinc-nickel, cadmium, electroless nickel, sulfamate nickel, bright nickel, chem film, Type II and Type III anodize, nitric passivation, bright tin, gold, matte and bright silver, and bright dip on copper and brass. Alkaline zinc, citric passivation, matte tin, dry film lube and zinc phosphate run at our Rowlett plant.

What about export-controlled parts?

Gleco is ITAR registered and runs formal ITAR control measures, so controlled technical data and hardware are handled under those controls rather than treated as ordinary work. Moving controlled items across the border still needs the appropriate U.S. export authorization in place, so tell us the classification when you send the print and we will confirm what is required before anything moves.

Can you support first articles and qualification runs?

Yes. Prototype and first-article quantities as well as production releases. Being close enough for a same-week turnaround is usually what makes a qualification schedule work.
