Metal Finishing in Laredo, TX

Plating, anodizing and passivation for Laredo manufacturers and the cross-border supply base, run at our McAllen plant. AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 registered, ITAR registered, with finishing kept in South Texas instead of trucked to San Antonio or Houston.

Why Laredo shops use us

Finishing for Laredo Manufacturers

Laredo is the busiest land port on the U.S.-Mexico border, and the manufacturing around it reflects that: trailer and chassis work, material handling equipment, warehouse and logistics hardware, and a wide base of machine shops feeding plants on both sides of the river. What those shops need from a finisher is the right specification, paperwork an auditor will accept, and a turnaround that does not add days of freight in each direction.

The full process list, one purchase order

Zinc, zinc-nickel, cadmium, electroless nickel, sulfamate nickel, bright nickel, chem film, Type II and Type III anodize, nitric passivation, tin, gold and silver all run at McAllen. A part needing two finishes does not need two vendors.

Certified, not just capable

AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 registered, ITAR registered and DFARS compliant. Every order ships with a Certificate of Conformance referencing the exact specification and revision your purchase order invokes.

Built for corrosion

A lot of Laredo work lives outdoors or on the road. Zinc-nickel and the right post-treatment carry far more salt spray hours than standard zinc, and we will tell you which one your service condition actually needs.

Engineering support before you order

Send the print. If the callout is wrong, obsolete or impossible on your substrate, you will hear that before the parts arrive rather than after the first article fails.

Bilingual, on both sides of the desk

Our team works in English and Spanish, which matters when your engineers, buyers and drivers do too. Send the print in whichever language your team works in.

Logistics

Down I-69 and US-83, Not Up I-35

The McAllen plant is a straight run southeast from Laredo along US-83 and I-69, and it is the closest full-line finisher to the Laredo gateway. The alternative most Laredo shops have lived with is shipping north to San Antonio or east to Houston, which adds transit in each direction plus the handling damage that comes with extra touches. Consolidating a week's releases into one trip usually beats paying freight twice on every lot.

A few processes are plant-specific between McAllen and Rowlett. Send the print and we will route it and tell you which plant it runs in and what that does to your lead time.

Common questions

Laredo Finishing Questions

How far is the plant from Laredo?

The McAllen plant is at 3800 W. Ursula Ave in McAllen, southeast of Laredo along US-83 and I-69. Most Laredo customers consolidate releases into a single run rather than shipping lot by lot.

Do you work with parts moving across the border?

Yes, and a large share of Valley work already does. Your broker handles the crossing and the temporary-import paperwork; we handle the finish and the certification. Tell us how the parts move and we will fit our documentation to it.

Which finishes run at the McAllen plant?

Zinc and zinc-nickel, cadmium, electroless nickel, sulfamate nickel, bright nickel, chem film, Type II and Type III anodize, nitric passivation, bright tin, gold, matte and bright silver, and bright dip on copper and brass. Alkaline zinc, citric passivation, matte tin, dry film lube and zinc phosphate run at Rowlett.

Can you hold aerospace and defense specifications?

Yes. McAllen is AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 registered, ITAR registered and DFARS compliant, and runs to MIL-A-8625, MIL-DTL-5541, AMS-QQ-P-416, AMS 2417, AMS 2404, AMS 2424, AMS 2700 and QQ-S-365 among others.

What lead time should I plan for?

It depends on the process, the lot size and whether the job needs outside testing. Send the print with your quantity and required date and you will get a real date, not a placeholder.
